Dirty Little Secrets About Dirty Electricity

If you've never heard of dirty electricity, then you're probably healthy. Or maybe you depend on doctors to figure out why you're sick, and they don't know what dirty electricity is either. It's unfortunate that when we go to the doctor with pains and complaints, doctors don't ask us about our favorite spot to relax or where we spend most of our time. Because we could be spending time in areas that are killing us.

Before I link to an article that will give you more info, what you REALLY need to know is that smart meters create dirty electricity in your home electric wires. (Right now you're wondering what a smart meter is, and how do you know if you have one?)

Most big cities in the US have switched from analog meters to smart meters. There is nothing good about smart meters other than being able to see reports showing your electric use and peak days and times. Whoopie. Because it's not worth the trade in health problems.

There are other things that cause dirty electricity, such as LED light bulbs, dimmer switches, and solar converters.

The best way to protect yourself from them is to distance yourself from them. Don't put your favorite chair next to a wall with lots of wires. Same with your bed, especially. My bed is in the middle of the room. I also built a frame out of wood so I wasn't sleeping on a metal frame that makes things worse. I have a Tempurpedic mattress with no metal coils.

The next best way is to use filters. They have plug in filters as well as "whole house" filters. I'm not linking to any of them, because there are pros and cons to these that go above the scope of this article. You can do a search for "dirty electricity filters" and read more. But for now, I'd focus on distance.

Oh, I almost forgot. Some people go so far as to turn all the electricity off in their bedroom. This is ideal, but can be a pain. It also means no ceiling fans, and I know how some of you are about that...

If you can opt out of the smart meter, even better.

Here's more about the growing health concerns of dirty electricity.

And books I actually purchased, read, and recommend:

Dirty Electricity: Electrification and the Diseases of Civilization

EMF*D: 5G, Wi-Fi & Cell Phones: Hidden Harms and How to Protect Yourself

The Invisible Rainbow: A History of Electricity and Life

There are more books out there, and there might be some better than these. But they definitely have been useful for me!

Probiotics for Inflammation and Gut Health

I decided it was time to sit down and evaluate the supplements I take and decide if anything needs to be changed up. While doing some research on GreenMedinfo, I kept seeing probiotics come up as a benefit to inflammatory markers for various diseases. Then it made a lot of sense how so many people have gut issues coupled with autoimmune (like my own daughter!)

While I was sitting at my computer, I kept wondering why I've been hurting the past couple of days, to the point that it was distracting and even debilitating at times. That's when I remembered that I was taking a week off from Vitamin D, since I hadn't had my levels checked and I wanted to make sure I didn't take too much. I decided I should take it to see if it helped, and when I opened my supplement cabinet to get the Vitamin D, there was my mom's probiotic looking back at me.

My mom came to live with me for six months before passing away on April 21. She had been in assisted living across the country (near my brother) and had been hospitalized many times for oral cancer surgery, c-diff and complications from that. She nearly died, but even after she recovered, was dealing with Lewy body dementia with Parkinsonism. She had almost constant UTI's, like many elderly, as well as constant diarrhea after the c-diff. Most of her life she had "little pebbles" and still told doctors that whenever they asked, even though it was not true when she lived with me!

I wanted to keep urinary tract infections away, and knew that she had gut issues, so I had been giving her Nexabiotic from DrFormulas. I like showing that I actually purchase the products I recommend...

She was on pureed food due to swallowing issues from her last oral cancer surgery (and probably dementia, but who knows?) so I opened the capsules and put them in with her other medicines everyday. Her diarrhea cleared up in about a week. She had been dealing with it for MONTHS in assisted living. While she was still independently toileting, dementia caused her to forget to flush quite often (and she blamed it on my daughter!) so I saw what her bowel movements were like. They were normal. Not pebbles. Normal. I couldn't believe it. She spent most of her life constipated, and knew that she wasn't drinking enough water. Now that she was getting more fluids through her pureed food, and probiotics to improve her gut, she was going regularly with normal smooth movements. AND she only had one minor UTI in 6 months.

I was worried a bit when she kept losing weight despite eating a LOT of food, especially for her level of activity. But her weight loss stopped at 8 lbs. and she plateaued there. That's when I realized that she probably had pooped out a lot of remnants that had been hanging around in her intestines for years! You would think diarrhea would do that, but I learned recently that you can be constipated and have diarrhea at the same time! So you can have waste lodged in nooks and crannies of your intestines and watery stool go right on by. Anyway, enough of that talk... we'll just say I was shocked at the difference.

When I looked at the variety of strains in the Nexabiotic, I saw a lot of the same ones that were studied in the articles I had just read on inflammatory markers. So now I'm trying it to see what results I get for pain and inflammation. Here are the strains:

I think the only reason I've not taken a probiotic more frequently is because I eat plain yogurt everyday. So my gut is "decent." I think I can do better. Stand by...

How to Make your Hot Water Heater Last 30+ Years

Most people think their hot water heater needs replacing more often because they don't make things last as long anymore. This is true for most appliances and electronics, but I don't think it's true for hot water heaters. They usually fail because of rust issues that cause leaks. What most people don't realize is that there is a way to prevent this rust!

Do you know what this is?

It is called an anode rod, and it came out of my hot water heater after about five years. Simply put, an anode rod (also called a sacrificial rod) is used to keep the hot water heater from rusting. There is science behind this that I don't have the capacity to explain. There are tons of videos about this on YouTube, and videos that show you how to replace yours. This one is bent because the ceiling in my basement is not high enough to allow it being pulled straight out, so they had to bend it to get it out. The replacement anode rod looks like this, so that it is easier to put in and get out:

I replaced my anode rod for three reasons:

1. The plumber was there to switch my range from electric to gas, so it was convenient to have him do it. This is a DIY project, but with my brand water heater (Bradford White) I knew it was hard to get the rod out because it requires strength and tools I don't have on hand.

2. I knew it needed to be done at some point, but not sure when. The one removed probably could have stayed in for a bit longer. Water quality determines how often they should be replaced, so there is no hard and fast rule. You can check yours annually to see how it looks, and then you'll know how often to change it in the future.

3. I wanted to switch from an aluminum rod to a magnesium rod. Once I learned about the anode rod, I wondered if the rod had the ability to leech into the water. There is no concrete evidence either way, but to be safe, I wanted to switch to magnesium. Some articles say that magnesium rods tend to need replacement often, but again it depends on your water.

If you want to learn how to change your anode rod, just search the brand and "anode rod replacement" on YouTube and you will be sure to find exactly what you're looking for. Or just call your favorite plumber and have him do it. While he's there, he can drain and flush your water heater. This is supposed to be done annually! If you can't DIY and don't have the money to pay a plumber, you might have a friend or neighbor that can help you out. It will be worth it if you never have to replace your hot water heater!

Matt Rife - Laughter IS the Best Medicine

If you've never heard of Matt Rife, you're living under a rock. He's a comedian and he's awesome. Check him out on YouTube or TikTok. I binged every special, clip, and interview he's done while I was taking care of my mom in her last few months. I don't know what I would have done without the laughter. I still watch him now, and it's been a month and a half since my mom passed away. It really is true... laughter is the best medicine. Matt Rife has a bit of a potty mouth, so forgive me if that's intolerable to you. I grew up hearing that language quite a bit, and while I don't use it now, it doesn't offend me when I'm getting a good laugh in return. A more family friendly comedian is Nate Bergatze, and I listened to him a lot, too! Gotta run... I need my Rife fix!

Electric Lawnmowers - Eco Friendly?

I was cutting my grass today, and realized that I'm no longer self-conscious about using my corded electric lawnmower. I mean, it's been 12 years, so it's about time. But I started thinking about how people are probably now thinking about getting an electric mower for themselves since electric cars are being pushed on us for their "eco friendliness." I guess a lot of people have been using battery operated lawnmowers for a while, but not many people choose corded for obvious reasons. Why did I? And why did I switch to electric 12 years ago before it was all the rage?

Truth is, I started having shoulder problems and couldn't start my gas mower very easily. Not to mention, the maintenance on a gas mower is much higher. There is essentially NO maintenance on a corded electric mower. The electric mower is so easy to start- you literally just push a button. Also, now that I'm older and the sun is hotter (IT IS!) it's also nice that electric mowers are lighter and easier to push. I probably chose corded at the time because they are cheaper, but also because I didn't want to be stuck with a run down battery when my job wasn't finished yet!

I definitely didn't choose an electric mower for eco-friendly reasons, because they aren't! Don't let anyone tell you it is a better option than a gas powered lawnmower. The only benefit is that you aren't breathing in gas-produced fumes. The production of the energy at the power plant is NOT cleaner than gas if it is powered by coal, and most are. Oh, I just remembered- I also don't have to store gas or worry about having enough to cut the grass. I had forgotten about those days.

I am on my 3rd electric mower. I can't remember the brand of my first mower, but it might have been a Greenworks. My second was Task Force, which doesn't seem to be available anymore, which might be a good thing because it didn't last very long. I'm currently on year 5 of this Greenworks mower, which (gotta love Amazon records!) was only $152 with tax when I bought it in 2018.

I like to plan ahead, and I already started researching what I would buy if this one died, and I'm thinking about going ahead and buying a new one and passing this one down to my son. While the Greenworks mower has a metal deck and holds up to all my banging into things, it weighs 56 lbs. and the one I've got my eye on is only 39 lbs. It's lighter because the deck is made of plastic rather than metal. But hey, no rust! The only drawback is that the new mower would require a new cord, because it is 13 amps and the cord I have for my 12 amp is not the correct gauge for 13 amp at 100 ft. (I'm not sure I've been using the correct rated gauge all these years now that I'm looking at the numbers). A new cord would be more than $150. BUT... If you compare the cost of a new mower and cord over their lifetime, they are still much cheaper than having someone cut your grass. And it's free exercise and detoxing in the heat! The mower I'll probably get this time is the Ryobi. I think it has a larger grass catcher than the Greenworks, but I can't find any specs on it. It will require less dumps, but it will be a heavier haul when full. I only use the catcher for leaves, or when weeds have flowered, so I can keep the seeds from depositing on the lawn as much as possible. Also, when I do my first cut on Bermuda each spring. Otherwise, I let the clippings stay on the lawn.

If you are considering an electric mower, I hope my thoughts have given you some things to think about. For the most part, if you're looking for a low maintenance, lightweight mower that you can start repeatedly with the push of a button, it's a great option.

I almost forgot...my Greenworks mower is quieter than a gas mower, too. That means I can use it earlier in the morning, or later at night when it's cooler without irritating my neighbors. I hope the Ryobi is the same!

Non-Conventional Dental Habits to Keep Your Teeth in Your Mouth

You’ve been brushing with fluoride toothpaste for years, even flossing most days, and you’re still getting bad results at the dentist every six months. What gives?!

Trust me, you’re not the only one! There are TONS of people out there who are losing teeth, getting root canals, and struggling with halitosis. Here I present some products that you probably haven’t thought of to keep a mouth healthy and microbe-free. I’m sharing Amazon affiliate links here, but you might be able to find some of these products locally. Some you might already have, and using them for something else! I’m not going to give recipes here, because each person and problem is different. I’m sharing the products, and you will have to figure out what works for you.

The most important product and something EVERY person should own is an oral irrigator. I’ve used other brands that have gone downhill in the past decade, so I can’t recommend them. But I’ve recently ordered the WaterPik Aquarius and it works great. It has a 3-year warranty, so I know I will get my money’s worth even if it dies in the next three years. You can irrigate with just water, or add peroxide, mouthwash, or colloidal silver to help get rid of bacteria in your gums. It’s also a necessity if you have any sort of tooth replacement such as a bridge or implant (I do not recommend either, but that’s a topic for another day). It can find food that your toothbrush couldn’t, and dislodge it before it causes problems.

Another product I HIGHLY suggest is the Sonicare toothbrush. You don’t have to get anything special. I believe mine is the original one that used to cost a LOT of money. But now they are super affordable, and I’m just in love with mine. I have super sensitive gums, and it keeps me from over-brushing. I’m sure there are all kinds of studies to back up their effectiveness, but I’m just telling you the experience itself is worth it!

I have not used toothpaste in YEARS. I simply use xylitol in water to brush with, swish, and gargle (I use about a tsp per oz of water). The reason I do this is because I learned something accidentally. While traveling in the car one summer, I kept some xylitol candy in my mouth constantly- I can’t even remember why. But after about six hours in the car, a piece of calculus that had formed on the back of my bottom teeth broke off.   I knew that xylitol was good for teeth, but this still shocked me. I know that consuming a ton of xylitol can cause GI issues, so I realized then that I could use the product and benefit from it without consuming it. That was about six years ago and it’s working great. If you are wondering why in the world I would have calculus on my teeth, it’s because I avoided the dentist for many years. After using xylitol to brush my teeth, and swish for about five minutes everyday, the calculus didn’t return. When I did finally return to the dentist, my teeth were practically calculus-free.

Xylitol is toxic to dogs, so keep it out of their reach!

Sometimes I add ConcenTrace mineral drops to my toothbrush/rinse water with the xylitol. As you probably know by now, we can absorb through the membranes in our mouths, such as under the tongue and the gums. This way we don’t have to depend on it going through our GI system where things might not be utilized as well. And it might just be in my head, but I think it makes my teeth feel stronger, too!

Let’s talk about oral health for a minute, and not so much the teeth. If you think about it, the ecosystem in the mouth starts at the lips and really goes all the way to the back of the throat and up to the nasal cavities and nostrils. Xylitol nasal spray helps with allergies and sinus infections, and I suggest using it regularly for oral health as well. This spray is super easy to use, or you can dip a cotton swab into your xylitol water and then gently cleanse the nostrils. The spray has a benefit of getting further into the nasal cavity, but if money is an issue, the nasal spray could wait. Because it helps if you get sick, or even to keep you from getting sick, I’d definitely put it on my list though. I did the cotton swab with peroxide in my nose every night after working in retail all day. It bubbles up and helps clean out the boogies that are holding on to viruses and bacteria.

More products for oral health include aloe vera juice, grapefruit seed extract, colloidal silver and oregano oil supplements. Here’s how I use these:

If you have dry mouth, or even a sore throat, a solution of aloe vera juice and grapefruit seed extract can be used as frequently as you’d like. You can also add colloidal silver or make a separate solution with aloe vera juice and colloidal silver. You can also get a pre-made spray by Xlear that works great. All of these have minimal to no taste. I personally use all and change them up just to keep any microbes guessing before they get knocked down!

Oregano oil is available in numerous strengths and modalities, such as essential oil, tincture, or herb. I’ll make this real easy by sharing the form I currently take (and have for a few years). Oregano oil has systemic benefits, and has even been known to help people with fatigue. I believe this is due to fatigue resulting from low grade infections, whether it’s in our mouths, or a latent viral infection our body is struggling to suppress. I started out taking two oregano oil capsules daily, and then went down to one when I started having a little heartburn. This can happen because it can kill too much of the microbiome in the gut, affecting digestion.

It goes without saying that you should floss daily and brush your teeth at least twice a day. Also, your diet will have something to say about your tooth health. Hopefully I’ve shared some ideas that will resonate with you and help you prevent or solve some issues you’ve been dealing with. This is not an exhaustive guide on the teeth, but some non-conventional ways to support a healthy mouth and strong teeth.

Don't you just hate when people try to sell you on stuff they don't even use? Here are pics of these products at my house so you know I'm not just trying to make a buck off of you!

Laundry Detergent without the Plastic Jugs

Okay, I'm a skeptic... but I tried them, and I LOVE Earth Breeze laundry sheets. Not only does it keep plastic out of the landfills (I do recycle, but do they REALLY all end up recycled?) it uses less gas because those jugs filled with mostly HEAVY water don't have to be trucked across the country! Earth Breeze comes with your regular mail as often as you need them. I prefer unscented, but they accidentally sent the scented version to me one time, and while it doesn't smell too bad, it's fairly strong to me, as most scents are. They also have dishwasher detergent which I discovered works great with hard water which is HUGE to me. The dish detergent comes in tablets wrapped in plastic that dissolve in water.  Give these products a try by clicking on the link below. We get a small kick back, and you save money. Win win!

A Natural Anti-Cancer Protocol

I want to tell you about this protocol without telling you about this protocol. I want you to get the information without flagging the name of the product because let's face it, "they" will figure out how to get rid of it or make it harder to get. But here's my testimony...

My mom got oral cancer for the third time when she was 77 years old, and about five years into Lewy body dementia with Parkinsonism. It was visibly seen on her cheek, where it puffed out on the outside. I could see it on the inside of her mouth. It was "uncurable." After about three weeks on the protocol, the tumor had shrank enough to notice a visible difference. The protocol was working. My goal was to keep the cancer from growing so fast that it would cut off her ability to eat and her ability to breathe. The protocol was successful, and she died peacefully in her sleep from the effects of Lewy body dementia.

Most people on the protocol don't have the opportunity to visibly see their cancer, but they use markers in blood or PET/CT scans to check their progress. Many use the protocol while also using chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy. Often people use it after doctors have given up on their arsenal. For many of these people, it is too late. Even if you don't have cancer, you should have a plan if you discover you do. This protocol is so easy to do, you can get the products and start within a few days of diagnosis, and you can also use it to prevent a previous cancer from coming back.

Wrapping a Toxic Mattress

I've seen lots of articles recently that say, "Hey, mattresses are toxic, you should wrap your mattress in polyethylene sheeting to protect yourself!" And while this product has been on the market for about 15 years, they provide no link... probably because they won't make any money off of it, or maybe because they didn't know the product exists. Well... here ya go!

No-Chem Mattress Wrap

Mattress wrapping is for people who

  • are allergic to their new mattress
  • discover their new mattress has a strong smell, making them sick
  • realized a hand-me-down mattress that someone gave them was sprayed with Febreze, and ewww
  • want to deliver their baby at home and want to protect their mattress
  • want to co-sleep with their baby and heard mattresses off gas chemicals
  • are not sleeping well and wonder if their mattress is making them sick.
Most people don't realize that mattresses never really stop off-gassing. The articles I read suggested you can let your new mattress off-gas for a few hours or days and you'll be good to go. Not so! Years ago when I trialed a mattress wrap, a horrible chemical smell came out of it when I cut it open. The smell was as strong as it had been when it was new, and it was at least five years old. So truth be told, the chemicals in mattresses will probably always be there, even when your nose no longer smells them. So if you are concerned for any health problems looming, or you just want to protect yourself "just in case," mattress wrapping is for you!

Vitamin C for Coronavirus Covid-19

Dr. Richard Z. Cheng made a video regarding the use of Vitamin C for Coronavirus in Wuhan China. After reaching over 300,000 views, YouTube pulled the video down. This is his follow up video explaining the use of Vitamin C (which has already been proven beneficial). He questions the motive of YouTube, as we all should. Why are we all complacent when it comes to being censored?

Youtube blocked my interview of a Wuhan family saved from Covid-19 with Vit C

The CDC Lies About Flu Deaths

With the new Coronavirus, Covid-19, being practically the only conversation on facebook and in real life, I find myself gritting my teeth every time someone spouts off about how this virus is "nothing" compared to the annual influenza rates we deal with. And then people post memes with "facts" like this:
How do I know this is a lie? Well, many years ago I learned that the CDC admitted to inflating numbers to get more people to get flu shots every year. And, I also looked up the actual numbers. First, you should know that the CDC combines influenza and pneumonia deaths together almost every time they mention flu stats. They admitted that this helped increase the fear. When combined, it puts "pneumonia and influenza" as a top-10 cause of death for many states. Left on its own, flu stats wouldn't be anywhere near. Here's why:

If this image doesn't get big enough on your phone, influenza deaths for 2017 total 6,515. Pneumonia deaths were 49,157. Some of those pneumonia deaths were as a result of the flu. This often happens in elderly patients or patients with weak immune systems. There are many different causes of pneumonia, but those are not accounted for in statistics collected by the CDC. (By the way, 68% of influenza and pneumonia deaths occur in those 75 and older. 93% of influenza and pneumonia deaths occur in those 55 and older. https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/usa-cause-of-death-by-age-and-gender )

The CDC combines these stats every year. EVERY. YEAR. And then still exaggerates.

So, how should you respond?

One of the things that's bugging me exponentially right now is that everywhere we turn for advice on Covid-19, we are being told "get your flu shot!" Well, we know the flu shot isn't very effective (ever!) but what most people don't know is that it actually weakens your immune system. The last time to get any vaccine is when you are already sick, or could potentially come into contact with something that will make you sick.

Those 6,515 people are not just a number. They were someone's mom, dad, grandparent, or child. So while the number is much smaller than what the CDC tells us, it doesn't mean we should just ignore all logic and pretend the flu isn't an issue. In order to protect the most susceptible, make sure to take care of your body all year round, AND wash your hands regularly. That is much more effective than a vaccine will ever be!

God bless, and be well!

How to Prevent Illness From Coronavirus

I've seen some really crazy things coming out in the past month, such as..."You can't build up your immune system." Ummm, yes you can. Where did that even come from?!

How can you keep from getting sick from Coronavirus even if you get it?

We use a good daily multi-vitamin, plus Vitamin D/K2, and oregano oil capsules on a regular basis. Those have helped us avoid many illnesses that have gone around the workplace. When my non-compliant 18 year-old son brought a high fever and flu-like illness into our home, my daughter and I didn't catch it. If you want "real doctor" advice, the Riordan Clinic recommends the following supplements to help prevent Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
  • Vitamin C: 1,000-2,000 mg, 3-4 times a day (to bowel tolerance)
  • Vitamin D3/K2: 10,000 IU/100 mcg, at least once daily (up to 3x per day if no known kidney or hypercalcemia issues)
  • Vitamin A: 10,000 to 25,000 IU, per day
  • Zinc Picolinate: 30 mg, twice daily with food
  • Selenium: 200 mcg, 1-2x daily with food
We get our vitamins from Riordan Clinic, which is about 20 minutes away from us. You can also have them shipped to your home!

The second best thing you can do for yourself AND others is to wash your hands regularly. Be cognizant of the things you touch like doorknobs, handrails, and money. Try to avoid commonly touched items and avoid touching your face AND others for a while. When I recently flew into Atlanta during the beginning of the virus coming to the U.S., I avoided taking the crowded train to the baggage terminal and walked instead. I mean, people are gross even without Coronavirus. They don't wash their hands and they aren't going to start for you. So think about that before you get into a small vessel packed with people who are too tired (sick?) to make the walk.

Finally, try to get enough rest, exercise, good food, and stress-free periods throughout the day. Aim for a balanced life that makes you happy, which leads to better health. For me, that all includes my faith in Jesus. He is a part of all of that, and maybe that's why I feel like one of the few people I know not freaking out right now.

God bless and be well!
